ORIGINS FAMILY | It belongs to the family of Leguminosae Caesalpinioideae. |
GROWTH AREA | Even if it has its origins in the Ivory Coast, it develops also with other essences throughout several humid forests in Ghana, Gabon, Nigeria and Cameron. |

TECHNOLOGICAL FEATURES | Sapwood and heartwood are distinguished. When the tree is green the sapwood appears whitish but it changes colour when seasoned, becoming grey. Instead, the heartwood has some characteristics similar to the walnut but with light different nuances, that change from brown-yellow to brown-olive, depending from the provenience. It is a decorative wood thanks to the good effect produced by its dark streaks. When seasoned it becomes steady, hard and heavy so it become easily workable. |
DRYING METHOD | The artificial drying must be processed very slowly and carefully to avoid splitting and warping. |
MAIN USES AND WORKING | This wood is used for the construction of furniture, furnishings, decorative veneers, luxury floors, cabinet making and objects in general. |
