ORIGINS FAMILY It belongs to the family of Sterculiaceae.
GROWTH AREA This tree develops below the rainforest of tropical area of the West Africa; From Sierra Leone to Liberia, the Ivory Coast, until the Ghana.
SPECIFIC WEIGHT Green 850 kg/m³ – Dried 650 kg/m³ at 12% C.U.
TECHNOLOGICAL FEATURES Sapwood and heartwood are distinguished.
The first is useless while the heartwood is brownish red, similar to African mahogany.
The wood has a lot of resin so it has a great resistance to the parasite attacks.
DRYING METHOD It can easily be dried with very good results.
MAIN USES AND WORKING This wood is widely used in internal and external carpentry, for shipbuilding, fixtures and in general for all heavy and light carpentry work.
It is also suitable for stairs, floors and lathe work.
