ORIGINS FAMILY It belongs to the family of Leguminosae caesalpinioideae.
GROWTH AREA This tree grows in the West equatorial area of Africa.
SPECIFIC WEIGHT Green 900 kg/m³ – Dried from 650 kg/m³ at 12% C.U.
TECHNOLOGICAL FEATURES Sapwood and heartwood are clearly distinguished.
The first is yellow-greyish and is useless while the heartwood is lemon yellow with, over time, some dark streaks.
Its fine texture and its wavy fibre give to this wood pleasant appearance and for this reason is considered a decorative wood.
It is a wood medium durable so, to preserve it from fungi attacks, it is recommended to treat it.
DRYING METHOD It is a very easy process but it must be carried very carefully to avoid splitting.
MAIN USES AND WORKING Movingui can be work well without difficulties;
The only problem is the high quantity of silicon that can ruin the tools used;
Nail and screw joints hold well.
It is generally used for parquet flooring, stairs and lamellar planks.
Given its features, it is often used to produce veneers and cabinet-making.
Thanks to its resistance it can be useful for carpentry works and barrel constructions.
