GROWTH AREA This tree grows below the ground of equatorial area of the West Africa.
SPECIFIC WEIGHT Green 650 kg/m³ – Dried 550 kg/m³ at 12% C.U.
TECHNOLOGICAL FEATURES The Frakè is variable in color, from yellowish white to dark with irregular blackish streaks (white Frakè, starry or round ball).
The grain is straight and compact while the texture is medium and uniform.
If it must be used for external structures, it is recommended to treat the wood in order to preserve it from fungi attacks.
DRYING METHOD It can easily be dried without problems.
MAIN USES AND WORKING The wood is not resistant to atmospheric agents and therefore is mainly used for internal carpentry, furniture, desks and light constructions;
It can also be peeled and turned.
Depending on the color of the heartwood it can be used for decorative veneers and inlays.
