ORIGINS FAMILY It belongs to the family of Lecythidaceae (angiosperm).
GROWTH AREA This tree grows mainly in South America (Brazil, Venezuela).

TECHNOLOGICAL FEATURES The heartwood is light brown to pinkish brown.
It has black stripes in the length direction, caused by traumatic resin canals.
The sapwood has a lighter colour but is sometimes difficult to distinguish.
It does not have clearly demarcated sapwood.
The grain is straight and the texture is fine to medium coarse.
DRYING METHOD It dries normal to slowly with some risks of distortion.
Drying requires care in order to reduce defects.
MAIN USES AND WORKING Tawarì can be used for several applications such as: high class furniture, panelling, veneer, flooring, sliced veneer, doors and fixtures in general.
