TECHNOLOGICAL FEATURES | Sapwood and heartwood are slightly distinguished: the first is narrow and yellow instead the heartwood is brown-pink and tends to become darker when seasoned. It has a straight and uniform fibre while the texture is medium. This wood has a poor durability with low resistance to the insect and fungi attacks if not treated. |
DRYING METHOD | It dries quickly with a rather accentuated shrinkage but after treatment it is very stable. |
MAIN USES AND WORKING | This wood is used for musical instrument production, for naval constructions, for pipes and for valuable woodworks. It is also widely used by the furniture industry as well as fixtures with high-class finishes, wall and floor tile manufacturing. |
