TECHNOLOGICAL FEATURES The sapwood, rosy or sometimes yellowish, is clearly distinguished from the heartwood which is reddish brown and tends to darken over time.
After cut, it emanates a characteristic scent.
Sapele has a fine texture and a wavy grain that gives to this wood pleasant appearance and for this reason is considered a decorative wood.
The sapwood is susceptible to insect and fungi attacks while the heartwood is resistant.
DRYING METHOD Usually it is dried very slowly to avoid possible warping.
MAIN USES AND WORKING Sapele is a very required in the furniture industry for fine and everyday items, as well as in the plywood and veneer branches.
It is widely used for frames and profiles, stairs, parquet, musical instruments, boats and finally light carpentry.
