The white-yellow wood can assume grey or violet reflections and becomes darker on the sun light. Sapwood is a bit lighter but similar to heartwood. This wood presents a straight grain and a medium to fine texture. |
DRYING METHOD | It dries rather quickly with little risk of splits and warp; |
MAIN USES AND WORKING | Fir can be easily sawn and cut and joints with glue hold firmly. This wood is usually used in construction, windows, doors, mouldings, architectural joinery and flooring; Fir it is good also for furniture, packaging, musical instruments and to extract cellulose for paper. |
