The grain is straight or interlocked and the texture is regular. If it must be used for external structures it is recommended to treat the wood in order to preserve it from fungi attacks. |
| DRYING METHOD | It should be carefully and slowly dried to avoid splitting. |
| MAIN USES AND WORKING | This wood can be easily sawn and cut. Joints with glue hold firmly such as nails and screws but pre-boring is necessary. It is usually used for several applications: • interior: e.g. interior joinery, light carpentry, high class furniture, stairs, flooring and turned goods. • exterior: e.g. exterior joinery, heavy carpentry, ship building, flooring, floorboards and decking. |
